After much experimentation with strings and tensions, I have finally settled on Ashaway MP at 31 lbs - it is all things to all men.
At my tension the string bed feel very stiff but it takes very little effort to bend it with power shots. The feel is on the soft side, and really comes alive with smashes and big clears. It also sounds lovely. It is not as powerful as 0.66mm strings, but plays a lot thinner than its 0.70 thickness.
With touch play, control is excellent, and there is enough friction on the surface to allow for slicing.
Durability is a pleasant surprise. Mine lasts a very long time, despite my being an intermediate who uses 31 lbs - this is the 0.70-ness reasserting itself. It is also good to string with.
This is probably the best "compromise" string I have ever tried - 90% as powerful as a "power" string, 90% as controllable as a "control" string and 90% as durable as a "durability" string. You will not be disappointed.
